Our Father to Premiere at Louth International Film Festival 2025
The short film Our Father, written and directed by Sheila Moylette, will have its world and Irish premiere at the 2025 Louth International Film Festival (LIFF), screening as part of Shorts Block 5 on 7th September at 11am. The film has also received a Best Actress nomination, marking an exciting debut for Moylette as both writer and director.
Scored by Irish composer Emer Landers, Our Father is a bold and emotionally resonant short created through the Actor as Creator scheme, funded by Screen Ireland and Bow Street Academy. The film explores themes of family, grief, and transformation with a raw, intimate perspective, brought to life through a strong central performance and a carefully crafted sonic world.
The film is produced by Western Front Studios and features performances by Fionn O’Fhada Loingsigh, Geraldine McAlinden, and Catherine Canny. The post-production team includes Chriona O'Sullivan and the team at First Element Post Production, with cinematography by Brian Durcan.
Set against the backdrop of County Louth’s vibrant cultural landscape, the Louth International Film Festival is now in its sixth edition and continues to champion innovative, thought-provoking cinema from around the world. Founded in 2019, LIFF offers a platform for emerging filmmakers, with support from notable patrons including Seamus McGarvey ASC, BSC, ISC, John Moore, and Dearbhla Walsh.
With its premiere at LIFF and an award nomination already under its belt, Our Father is a promising entry into Ireland’s growing canon of bold, independent cinema.
