The Ick Earns Multi-Category Consideration at the 2026 IFTA Awards

The Ick, the RTÉ Storyland drama featuring an original score by Irish film composer Emer Landers, is currently under consideration across multiple categories at the 2026 IFTA Film & Drama Awards.

Emer’s score is under consideration for Best Original Music, recognising its hybrid electronic and sound-design-led approach. The music supports the psychological horror elements of the piece while retaining an emotional through-line, evolving alongside the protagonist’s internal unravelling rather than functioning purely as genre underscore.

The project is also under consideration for Best Drama and Best Director (Drama) for writer-director Jason Branagan, whose work blends dark satire with character-driven storytelling.

In the acting categories, Sophie Vavasseur is under consideration for Best Actress in a Lead Role (Drama), with Hannah Mamalis under consideration for Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Drama), following their performances in the series.

The production has also received recognition in the craft categories, with Laura Briggs under consideration for Best Editing (Film / TV Drama) and Keith Pendred under consideration for Best Cinematography.

The Ick premiered on RTÉ2 and RTÉ Player in December 2025 as part of RTÉ Storyland, RTÉ and Fís Éireann / Screen Ireland’s flagship initiative supporting emerging Irish screen talent. Written and directed by Jason Branagan and produced by Aaron Chalke for Playbook Media, the project forms part of a wider slate championing new voices across Irish film and television.

The IFTA Film & Drama Awards ceremony will take place in Dublin in February 2026.
